Amazingly, the date features a quick-set function, something completely uncommon and quite remarkable for the mid-60’s.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp class=\"\" style=\"white-space:pre-wrap;\"\u003eFeaturing a 36mm case, stunning silver dial, and housing the 6246A movement, the 62GS is the perfect example of Taro Tanaka's \"Grammar of Design\", a language that is till featured in Grand Seiko's to this day, and a very important piece in the back catalogue of Seiko.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp class=\"\" style=\"white-space:pre-wrap;\"\u003eThis particular piece hails from 1966, and presents in good vintage condition. Not only the originator of the wrist-watch as we know it today, their unfailing dedication to their own aesthetic makes them instantly recognisable, and are deserving of the respect and reverence they command.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp class=\"\" style=\"white-space:pre-wrap;\"\u003eAlong with the Tank line, the Cartier Santos line is perhaps their most well known, with this iconic line being widely recognised as the birthplace of the wrist watch. Created at the request of early-Aviator Alberto Santos-Dumont by his friend Louis Cartier, not only was it the first wrist-watch, but also the first tool-watch.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp class=\"\" style=\"white-space:pre-wrap;\"\u003eThe piece we have here is quite a special one. Known as the Dumont 1576, it has quickly become one of the most desirable vintage Cartier’s of the past few years. With a heritage like it has, along with it’s timeless aesthetic, it’s not hard to see why.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp class=\"\" style=\"white-space:pre-wrap;\"\u003eThe case measures in 27mm x 36mm and is crafted in 18kt yellow gold, which has taken on a beautifully warm hue. It is powered by the manually wound 021 MC movement, based on the Frédéric Piguet 21,  which was the thinnest movement at the time and allows the watch to measure in at under 5mm in height – astounding.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp class=\"\" style=\"white-space:pre-wrap;\"\u003eThis particular piece is also that little more special as it has a guilloche dial, fitted in its recent full service with Cartier. The original non-guilloche dial is also included within the package.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp class=\"\" style=\"white-space:pre-wrap;\"\u003eAdditionally, it is also fitted with the highly desirable and extremely expensive 18kt Cartier gold deployant, also fitted as part of the service, and receipts are included.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp class=\"\" style=\"white-space:pre-wrap;\"\u003eAs you can see from the images, condition is pretty spectacular. This means that it has a thinner case, and is now highly prized amongst the vintage Doxa collecting community as it was the last Doxa Sub to be produced before they were purchased by Synchron and their logo began appearing on the dials, hence the Transitional moniker.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp class=\"\"\u003eThe case on this example is in excellent vintage condition. Lines are sharp, and does not show signs of over polishing. Has dings, dents and scratching in line with its age. Bezel action is smooth. All numbers visible on the case back. To make this particular piece that bit more special, we believe it to be a Polish Navy issued piece identified by the lack of Sea Pearl medallion in the centre of the case back, and instead an inscription beginning with 'MW' which is usually associated with the Polish Navy, with the MW taken from \"Marynarka Wojenna Rzeczypospolitej Polskiej\" and followed by the ID number of the soldier. This ID number is also engraved into the side of the case.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"\"\u003eDating from the 60's, it presents in good vintage condition. The flat black dial is original, with the centre portion being in fantastic condition. All printing is clear, tritium is in place, and there are no real marks of note. The dive ring shows some scratching and a large scuff between 5 and 10, with some Tritium burn around the pip at 0. Hands are original, and are in very good condition. Tritium on the dial and hands glows under UV light.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"\"\u003eThe 40mm steel case is very well preserved, and shows strong lines and even lugs. The case is beautifully preserved, and though polished, retains very thick lugs with excellent finishing.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp class=\"\" style=\"white-space:pre-wrap;\"\u003eThe original MK3 dial is in amazing condition, with no imperfections visible. The tritium has aged to a gorgeous eggshell colour, and the hands match perfectly. The Rolex Day Date is known as the Presidents watch, but in fact the Cricket has been gifted to each US president from Truman to Trump (other than George Bush) so could equally be called the watch of Presidents.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp class=\"\" style=\"white-space:pre-wrap;\"\u003eThe version we have here dates back to the late 50’s or 60’s, and is simply one of the most stunning vintage wristwatches we’ve held in our hands in quite a while. There’s some dings and nicks as expected of a 60 year old watch. While not a name that is mentioned amongst the likes of Rolex, JLC, Cartier and Vacheron when thinking of mid-century watchmaking, they created some absolutely stunning pieces in this era with our favourite being the Wittnauer Professional Chronograph ref. 6002\/5 seen here.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp class=\"\" style=\"white-space:pre-wrap;\"\u003eBearing a striking resemblance to the Rolex Pre-Daytona 6234, it even utilises the same movement to power it in the form of the manual winding, column-wheel Valjoux 72, perhaps on of the most famous chronograph movements of all time.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp class=\"\" style=\"white-space:pre-wrap;\"\u003eThe example we have here dates to the 1960’s, and features a steel 36mm case that is in very good condition. It has been polished at some point, but retains it’s original case shape.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp class=\"\" style=\"white-space:pre-wrap;\"\u003eThe stunning tri-colour dial has a nice even patina to it, with the lume on the numerals ageing to a beautiful hue. There is speckling on the dial, with some hand drag present. The 18k yellow gold case case is excellent. Lugs remain very thick and even, with clear numbers showing between them. Could use a slight refinish to get the beautiful Rolex brush lines and bevels showing sharply, but that's about it.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"\"\u003eThe dial is in absolutely fantastic condition, with no defects that we can see. Tritium is still present and full for the nipples, and they show tarnishing in line with its age.
