Rolex Air King 5500/5501 14k Gold and Steel
Dial is in very lovely condition with no damage we can see. Tritium plots in place for all but markers 2 and 3, with remnants remaining at those positions. Hands and markers light up under UV, and fade at the same rate. Plexi glass shows some scratching, though could be polished out if desired.
Case hows signs of use and polishing as to be expected of a 40 year old watch, but overall quite good. Numbers clearly visible between the lugs. Stamped 5500, and is an 815XXXX serial. Unsure of why the case is stamped 5500, could be due to spare parts being used, or being replaced at some point. Have not been able to find a definitive answer to this.
Fitted to a lovely HANDDN handmade calf leather strap in 19mm, with aftermarket buckle.
Serviced within the last 5 years by the current owner, it's running at around -14 seconds a day with high 200's amplitude. A small adjustment would no doubt have it running closer to COSC given the excellent amplitude.
