Kurono Tokyo Grand Jubilee Calendar 

For those unaware of Kurono Tokyo, it is the sub-brand of renowned independent watchmaker Hajime Asaoka, whom is widely regarded as one of the top watchmakers in the world. His watches are produced in extremely limited numbers, each an individual commission that can take years to deliver. In order to allow some of his magic to be enjoyed by the wider public, he created the Kurono Tokyo brand. These watches are designed by Hajime-san, but utilise components created to his specification from external manufacturers. Each watch then passes through his hands to ensure the quality is worthy of his name.

Launched in celebration of Hajime Asaoka’s 60th Diamond Jubilee, The Grand Jubilee Calendar is one of their latest releases, and builds on the design language of the earlier Calendrier, the first complete calendar watch from the manufacturer.

Housed within it's beautifully polished and new 38mm steel case is a Salmon dial with stunning black lettered vintage typeface, guilloche finishing on the centre portion of the dial, discreet date at 6 which is now recessed compared with its predecessors, and all topped with black coated hands to match the black coated indices and onyx cabochon in the crown. It is highly legible, beautiful and very distinct in it's aesthetic.

Being part of the Grand Series, the case back is also a bit special, with an inlaid solid gold medallion, a-la vintage Seiko and Grand Seiko, engraved with Japanese characters for the Kurono Tokyo brand, as well as Hajime Asaoka’s hanko.

Powering it is the Miyota 9022, and the entire watch is assembled in Japan by hand and QC checked under the watchful eye of Hajime Asaoka himself.

This particular piece was first delivered in December 2025 and presents in TZ 'Near Mint' condition, with only small hairlines and light swirls present. Please see images for full condition details.

Currently mounted to a lovely handmade Nubuck strap from HANDDN, and also includes the original strap which is unworn.
