Omega Speedmaster MKII Mark 2 Racing Dial 145.014
Omega Speedmaster MKII Racing Dial 145.014
These MKII Speedies are an oft-overlooked reference in the Speedy lineage, but in our opinion it's one of the coolest cushion case references they ever made. Featuring an oh-so-late-60’s case with an amazing sunray pattern and sharply polished bevels, they were to be the successor to the original Speedmaster line, much like the 928 was designed to supersede the 911, but as with the latter the original survived and the new kid on the block was destined to remain an intriguing oddity, but one that just looks better and better with age. Just look at that case finish! Omega has never topped that in our opinion.
This piece is especially cool as it features the ‘Racing Dial’, which is not only rare, but adds so much character to an already very cool watch. Powering it is Omega’s legendary 861 manual wind chronograph movement
This particular example is in very good vintage condition. It received an overhaul by Omega in 2023, and the case features polished bevels, and gorgeous brushed surfaces, which both show honest wear commensurate with its age as it was not polished during service.
The tritium dial was retained during service, but the hands and internal tachy were both replaced with service items, as was the crown and pushers. The original items are included with the watch.
It's mounted to a 1162/173 bracelet which is in excellent condition. Shows some average stretch as to be expected for its age, but fantastic overall. Contains enough links to fit roughly an 8.5in wrist.
As we mentioned, it was serviced by Omega in 2023, and is keeping time at around +12 seconds a day at 300+ degrees of amplitude measured dial-up on a timegrapher. Chronograph operates as it should.
Comes with Omega service case, Watch Vault cleaning cloth, Watch Vault Travel Pod, and original parts removed during service. No box or papers.
