Moritz Grossmann Tefnut Pure Limited Edition MG04.J-06-A000590

Named after the founder of the German School of Watchmaking, and one of the forefathers of Glashutte watchmaking, Moritz Grossman make some of the finest watches to come out of Germany, of that there is no doubt. Renowned for their beautiful in-house movements utilising German Silver, with an architecture and design all of their own, and some of the most impressive hands in the horological world, they are lesser known than some of their German brethren, but they are very much worth paying attention to.

The Tefnut is perhaps their most elegant line, and the version we have here is it pared back to its most pure form. Known as the Pure, it is perhaps the line best suited to daily wear with it's combination of size, stealthy DLC case, and pared back aesthetic. It won't draw the wrong attention, and is definitely an if-you-know-you-know watch.

Featuring a 39mm case in DLC-coated steel, it is just 8.8mm thick and 45.2mm lug to lug making it compact on the wrist, but thanks to it's thin bezel wears perhaps closer to a 40mm. The dial within is made of solid silver, and beautifully balances the line between a pure dress and daily watch with it's two-tone DLC coating with a grey inner section and black hour track. The highly polished dart indices sing against the black backdrop, and there's lovely sunburst finish within the sunken grey centre section, surrounded by a highly polished steel ring that perfectly aligns with the hour hand. The attention to detail here is first class.

One of Moritz Grossman's signatures are their handmade hands, here in steel. They reward close attention, with their immaculate finishing and subtle rolled tip on the minute hand.

On the flipside, you are greeted with the manual wind calibre 202, with it's 3/5th plate design in German Silver with a pillar construction for the bridges. It has a 48 hour power reserve, with high levels of shock resistance, and is adjusted in 5 positions for excellent accuracy. The finish is lovely, with a combination of satination and sandblasting, with an industrial yet luxurious balance, which is a finishing style we personally love. The warmth of the German Silver against the DLC case is a perfect pairing, too.

This particular piece was first sold in 2018 and presents in TZ 'Near Mint' condition. The case is in fabulous condition, with some very small marks and a tiny pin dent present on the bezel near 10 and 11. We can't see any marks anywhere else, other than on the crystal which has a tiny mark between 11 and 12, and a light scratch near the 'M' in Moritz Grossman. It comes mounted to a supple handmade Italian Colareb Napoli leather strap, with Moritz Grossman DLC-Coated pin buckle.

All functions operating as they should, and keeping COSC time when measured dial-up on a timegrapher.

Limited to 150 pieces in this configuration and rarely seen on the secondary market, this is a perfect high-horology daily-wearable piece that you won't see on anyone else's wrist.
