Seiko SLA051J1 Prospex Diver Uemura 44mm

Created by Seiko to honour Naoki Uemura, one of the greatest Japanese explorers of the modern era, the SLA051 is a modern interpretation of the watch he wore, the 6105. The 6105 is also known as the ‘Willard’, so this reference is also a variant of the modern ‘Willard’ pieces such as the SLA033 and SPB151 and 153, but for the launch of the SLA051 they chose to concentrate on the real life hero that is Naoki Uemura. It’s an amazing tool watch that harks back to one of the greatest pieces ever produced by Seiko.

Featuring a super-hard 44mm steel case, it houses a textured grey dial with applied luminous markers, steel luminous hands, and is surrounded by a 120-click uni-directional bezel that’s super-slick to operate like the best Seiko’s are, and it’s powered by the famed 8L35 movement.

This particular piece was first sold locally in 2023 and presents in TZ 'Excellent' condition. Case shows some light scratches and swirlies on the polished surfaces, with the brushed surfaces being very clean. Area around the lug holes show some marks, and there's minor strap change marks on the lugs. Bezel shows scratches throughout. Please see images for full condition details.

Bracelet includes all links, and shows some minor desk diving marks.

No service history, but far too new for that. All functions operating as they should, and keeping COSC time measured dial-up on a timegrapher.
