Omega Speedmaster Cart Racing Andretti 3510.80.00

What an unbelievably cool watch this is! For those not familiar with the Racing series of Speedmasters produced in the 90's, the collaboration begun in 1996 with Michael and Ralf Schumacher. Based around the Speedy Reduced, the featured a red dial for Michael, and a yellow dial for Ralf, and were launched at the Kart track where Michael developed his skills as a child. 

But this wasn't just a coloured dial LE. The sub-dials moved position compared with earlier Reduced Speedmaster's, to a much more balanced 3-6-9, and they also featured broad lumed hands and a racing minute track on the outer circumference. The plots were also in beige, making it a completely different beast to a regular Speedy. It also featured one of the coolest boxes ever to be made, with F1-style rubber tyres pulling apart to reveal the watch. This all fit into a regular-sized box, too. Take note, modern watch execs...

Perhaps our favourite variant of this series was a follow up to the Schumacher pair, and was made for Mario Andretti and the CART series in the US. Omega swapped out the red and yellow dials for an amazing blue dial, almost riviera in colour, and it looks spectacular in person. The lacquer type finish seems to flow over the subdials, and it's the perfect accent colour to the beige markers. The CART logo at 6 looks so cool, too.

This particular piece was first sold in Japan in the 90's and presents in excellent neo-vintage condition. The case is in remarkable condition, showing very few signs of wear. Bezel is in fantastic condition, with no major marks. Plexi shows some minor scratches. Please see images for full condition details.

Bracelet is in fabulous condition. Shows only very minor marks, and includes enough links to fit roughly a 7.7in wrist.

Service history is unknown, but believe it may have had one from the previous Japanese retailer as it currently keeping time at around +5 seconds a day at over 285 degrees of amplitude measured dial-up on a timegrapher. All functions operating as they should.

Comes with the correct outer and inner cases, warranty card (expired), and manuals.

Simply one of the coolest Speedy's of the past few decades in our opinion, and in fabulous condition. If you're a motorsport fan, and dig Omega, then don't miss this collectors set.
