Panerai Radiomir 3 Days Acciaio 47mm PAM00721 PAM721 Anonymous Limited Edition
Released in a limited run of only 1000 units, the PAM00721 is a special piece, essentially being a re-issue of the famed reference 3646, which was a military issued piece from WWII.
These 47mm cases from Panerai are an absolute favourite in the range for us. The proportions of the case feels spot on, and the weight disbursement across the wrist makes them more comfortable than the 44mm range in our opinion. Within this case lies a classic matte black sandwich dial with ecru lume, topped with blued hands with matching ecru lume. What makes it so cool is the fact it is an 'Anonymous' dial, with no logo or branding at all. This was a feature of the 3646 to ensure that if a soldier was captured during WWII, the Allies would not be able to determine the manufacturer of the watch. A very interesting piece of history.
Atop this sits a domed plexiglass creates a wonderful distortion to the dial when viewed on an angle, not unlike a Speedy Pro with hesalite. A second plexi is also included within the package. Powering it is Panerai's excellent P.3000 manual wind calibre with 3 day power reserve, viewed through a sapphire case back.
It's mounted to a very supple Panerai leather strap with Pre-V buckle.
This particular one-owner piece was first sold in 2019 and presents in TZ 'Excellent' condition. Case shows some mild scratches, rub marks and swirlies, but nothing large or deep. Plexi is shows small scratches and light scuffs present, and a brand new plexi is included. Strap is in fantastic condition, with minor desk dive marks on the buckle. No service history, much too young for that. Winds very smoothly, and is currently keeping time COSC time at near-300 degrees of amplitude.
