The story of the IW3751 starts in 1985. On the back of the quartz crisis IWC decided they needed to meet it head-on, and thus created the IW3750, a perpetual calendar chronograph based on the famed module created by Kurt Klaus. With it's stunning double-stepped case and unique lugs, combined with it's high-horology complications, it was both classical and forward-facing in its design and proved to be an immediate hit with collectors. Fast forward 10 years, and in celebration of this milestone watch for IWC, they created the IW3751 which added a split-second to the chronograph while retaining everything the collecting community loved about the IW3750.

The case itself measures in at 39mm, with a thickness of 16mm, and is crafted in 18k yellow gold. The double-stepped bezel is utterly gorgeous, and the unique articulating lugs makes it extremely comfortable on the wrist. Within this case lies a silver opaline dial with the classic IWC Kurt Klaus Perpetual calendar layout. It is clear, legible and very clever in its execution with the date complication at 9, month and 12 hour counter at 6, month and running seconds at 9 and moonphase and 30 minute counter at 12, making it very aesthetically pleasing and readable considering there is so much information being presented on the recessed subdials. Atop this dial sits 10 hands executed in 18k gold and blued steel, apart from the hidden split seconds hand in red.

Powering it is the aforementioned perpetual calendar chronograph movement 79251. This was based around the ETA 7750, modified with the Kurt Klaus module, with all calendar functions operated by the crown. Finishing it off is a beautiful aftermarket strap wit IWC tang buckle in gold.

This particular piece was first sold in 1999 and presents in excellent neo-vintage condition. The case has been beautifully preserved, with only minor scratches and some very small dings present. The original tritium dial is in excellent condition, with only very minor of blemishes present when viewed under a loupe. Hands are tritium, and in excellent condition. Was serviced in January 2025 by a well regarded independent here in Melbourne. The owner chose to go the independent route not for cost (it was more expensive than what IWC quoted), but in order to ensure the hands and dial were retained and not exchanged for service parts. Receipt will be included with the sale. All functions operating as they should.

Comes with a very full set including outer box, inner box, warranty booklet, garantie booklet, instructions, information book, warranty card (expired) and the sealed year updated component. The boxes show heavy wear, which is typical of IWC boxes of this era.

These are rare to see in such condition, with such a full kit, and serviced. If you've been contemplating a Da Vinci Perpetual, this is the one.
