Blancpain Leman Reveil GMT Alarm 18k Rose Gold 2041-3642M-53B

What an absolute powerhouse of a watch this is. Usually if you think of highly complicated Blancpain, you usually think of their strict dress pieces. And while we wouldn't call this a sports watch, it is part of the Leman series, so definitely has sporting overtones and feels like the perfect mix of modern and neo-vintage for a daily dress watch that just so happens to be quite complicated, with the level of fit, finish and beauty you'd expect of Blancpain.

Featuring a 41mm case in rose gold that is a touch under 14mm thick, and beautifully detailed with its stepped bezel and Blancpain engraving, it has a myriad of screw down pushers and crowns on its flanks to control the impressive array of complications. So what are these? First up you have the pusher on the lower left near 8, which controls the alarm. Simply push it to toggle the alarm complication on and off, super simple, and with the screwdown feature it not only gives it water resistance, but stops you accidentally activating it when you don't want to. 

At 4 you have the first of the crowns, which is used to set the alarm time which is displayed on the subdial at 3. Move up to the crown at 2, and this is the one that does your daily-setting and alarm winding. Unlock it and wind it clockwise and you power up the alarm power reserve seen at 11 on the dial. Pop the crown out to its next position, and you can set the home time hour hand independently while the watch still runs, which also adjusts the date back and forth as you pass 12am. Pop it out one more time and you can set the time, while a hacking feature stops the balance for precise setting.

The dial itself is a beautiful shade of silver opaline, with large arabic numerals making it easy to read, aided by the lume-tipped 18k rose gold hands for the dial and sub-dials. It's beautifully executed, especially considering how much needs to be displayed, and has a lovely sense of depth thanks to the sunken sub-registers.

Flip it over and you're greeted with the calibre 1241G based on a Frederic Piguet ebauche, with a lovely level of finish including cotes de geneve, mirrored anglage, and heat-blued screws, as well as a mirror polished hammer for the alarm, and a 40 hour power reserve.

Finishing it off is a Blancpain 'gator strap with 18k Rose Gold deployant.

This particular example presents in TZ 'Excellent' condition. The case is in fantastic condition, with hairlines and minor marks as expected of gold, but nothing large. Outer edge of the bezel shows a few small 'flea bites'. Lugs show strap change marks. Please see images for full condition details.

The strap is in serviceable condition, and is in a short size. Will ft up to a roughly 7in wrist. Buckle shows desk dive marks.

Service history is unknown. Winds very crisply, and is currently keeping time at around +10 seconds a day at 273 degrees of amplitude measured dial-up on a timegrapher. All functions operating as they should.

A fantastic wearing and highly complicated watch from one of Blancpain's most interesting eras.
