Dornblüth & Sohn 99.4 Black Dial

There's still value to be found in modern watchmaking, and for fans of German design and engineering it's very hard to go past Dornbluth. Much like Nomos or Sinn, the quality and attention to detail for the money compared to its Swiss rivals is no contest, and once you take a peek at the case back you'll soon see why.

The 99 series is a Dornbluth staple, and adds onto the 99.1 with the addition of a date to go along with the sub-seconds at 9 for a beautifully balanced aesthetic.

The steel case measures in at 42mm and 11.5mm in height, with a 1.6mm sapphire anti-reflective crystal on top. Within it lies a sterling silver matte black dial with lumed Arabic markers. The party piece is out back, with the beautiful in-house manual wind Cal 99.4 with a power reserve of approximately 50 hours. The roségold plated three-quarter plate with Geneva strips provides a stunning contrast against the steel case, and with the lovely detail of yellow gold hand-graving of the manufacturers name and serial number. A lovely thing to behold, and a joy to wind.

To finish it off it's mounted to a black 'gator strap with steel tang buckle.

This particular watch was first delivered locally in July 2011 and presents in TZ Good condition. Case shows light signs of wear for its age, with rub marks and some scratches on the bezel and case sides, and some minor marks on the lugs. Rear of the lugs show some marks from strap changes. There's some very small dings on the bevel lines, hence the 'Good' rather than 'Excellent' grading according to the TZ scale. Please see images for full condition details.

Was serviced by the local service agent Adelaide Watch Repairs very recently, and is keeping time at around +8 secs a day at 298 degrees of amplitude at time of writing.
