Glashütte Original PanoGraph Platinum 61-01-03-03-04

Introduced in 2002, the Panograph series from Glashutte Original is a technical tour de force, and GO's answer to the Datograph.

Featuring a 39.5mm case crafted in platinum, it measures in at 13.2mm thick with a lug-to-lug of 45.8mm's. It's beautifully finished, with its soldered lugs being totally brushed, and the case is topped with a bezel in high polish, and sandwiched with a polished case back to help break up the side mass visually. This piece also features the correct cabochon crown, reserved for the limited 100 series which this is a part of, not the later series which featured a regular crown. 

The dial itself is perfectly executed for a platinum watch, in a classic 'Darth' spec with its flat black base. The minute and sub-seconds track are brushed, with applied hour marks in high polish to match the high polish hands. The Grand Date sits in a sunken aperture at 4, with a frosted window surround.

Finally, there is the unconventional 30 minute chrono readout from which the Panograph derives its name. The farthest set of dots denotes the first 10 minutes of the counter, the middle line the next 10 minutes, and the smallest set the last 10 minutes. A beautifully executed way to show elapsed minutes wihthout the need for hands to clutter the dial. The Chrono also features a Flyback function, operated by the upper pusher.

Powering all of this is the phenomenal and absolutely gorgeous calibre 61, and it's the star of the show. In our opinion this is one of the most beautiful Chronograph movements ever made. The finishing, though perhaps not quite Lange standards, is at a very high level. Jewels are set with gold chatons, with jewelled pivot levers and lateral clutch. Kiln fired blue screws also abound, with black polished screwheads, free hand engraved half bridge for the balance, black polished name plate and swans neck adjuster. The base plate features engine turning, with perfectly aligned Glashutte Stripes. A proper Chrono movement.

To finish it off it is mounted to a lovely German made Fluco strap which suits the watch perfectly, with a platinum GO buckle. Also included is an original GO 'gator strap.

This particular piece was purchased in 2005, and presents in TZ Near Mint condition. The case shows almost no signs of use, and has clearly been very well cared for. Please see images for full condition details.

Has just returned from service by Glashutte Original. Keeping COSC time, and all functions operating as they should. Owner instructed them not to refinish the case. Watch remains under service warranty, though not for water resistance as the crown was not changed at service.

A rare piece, and in superb condition. This represents amazing buying compared to any of its competitors. Don't sleep on this, you won't find a better example.
