Glashutte Original SeaQ 39mm Blue 1-39-11-09-81-08

Glashutte Original has always been a favourite of ours here at WV HQ, providing extremely high quality watchmaking and cohesive designs while also adding a little design flair that is not quite so common in German watchmaking. From the classic PanoMatic line, through to the Senator Sixties and Seventies lines, they have demonstrated a clear ability to be able to design dress and dress-sports watches in the modern era. They have produced sports pieces in the past, and it was a raid of the back catalogue to the historic reference RP TS 200 from 1969 that helped launch their most modern and capable sports watch known as the SeaQ, a dedicated dive watch of the highest quality.

Featuring a 39.5mm stainless steel case that's just 12.15mm thick and has 200m of water resistance. It's beautifully finished, with a sharp bevel running the length of the case combined with vertically satin brushed sides that provides a very high quality luxury diver feel, more Blancpain Fifty Fathoms than Rolex Submariner. Surrounding the case is a 120-click uni-directional dive bezel with ceramic inlay.

Within this case lies a magnificent glavanized blue sunray dial with date, applied indices, heavily lumed hands and is topped by a magnificent domed sapphire crystal which provides a distortion when viewed on an angle not unlike hesalite which adds a warmth that we love.

It is powered by an in-house calibre 39-11 automatic movement with 40 hour power reserve, quickset date, and hacking seconds. To finish it off it is mounted to either a fantastic textile strap which suits the watch perfectly, and is extremely comfortable, as well as the fabulous and very high quality GO stainless steel bracelet complete with its built-in quick micro-adjust within the clasp that is activated by pressing down the GO logo in it's centre. 

This particular piece was purchased in Zurich in 2021, and presents in TZ 'Good' condition. The case is in very good condition overall, with some small scratches and scuffs present, mainly visible on the top section of the lower left lug. Case sides show some small marks, and minor pin dents. Case back shows rub marks. The reason for the 'Good' rather than 'Excellent' grading according to the TZ scale is the presence of a ding on the tip of the upper left lug, and another small ding on the edge of the mid-case on the left side, in the middle. Bracelet includes all links, and shows minor desk dive marks. The Textile strap is in good condition, with the buckle showing desk dive marks.

No service history, but a little young for that. Keeping COSC time 280 degrees of amplitude measured dial-up on a timegrapher.
