Grand Seiko Heritage Collection 62GS Shubun Autumnal Equinox SBGH273 

Initially released as a US-only exclusive edition, the Seasons collection is a modern re-interpretation of the 62GS from 1967 and is credited along with the 44GS as being the first iteration of the Grand Seiko design grammar. Like its predecessor, this modern version features sharp edges and distortion free surfaces achieved with Zaratsu polishing, implemented on a wonderfully comfortable titanium 40mm case. The characteristic wide-dial aesthetic is carried over with a bezel-free design, making it appear slightly larger on the wrist than its spec would suggest.

The dial is the real star of the show, with its 'Shubun' textured deep blue dial that is subtle, yet so captivating, rewarding close inspection. At first glance it may appear to be a flat blue, but look a little closer and you'll see the texture, and with the gold seconds hand gliding atop it, it is really something special while also not drawing too much attention. It is powered by the fantastic Hi-Beat 9S85 movement, visible through the sapphire case back.

This particular example was purchased in the US in 2020 and presents in TZ 'Good' condition. The case is very clean overall, with some scratching present on the polished surfaces, a small rub mark on the brushed surface above the bezel near 12, and a very small pin dent on the upper left lug. Brushed sides are very clean, with only minor hints of wear and some small marks around the lug holes upon close inspection. The inner portions of the lugs on the top side show some nicks from strap changes, which is the reason for the 'Good' rather than 'Very Good' grading on the TZ scale. Rear of the lugs show strap change marks also, and a scratch on the back of one of the links as seen in the images. Please see images for full condition details.

Bracelet includes all links, and shows some desk diving marks from regular use. One screw is missing from the spare link that is not fitted, but this is counterbalanced by the fact it includes 2 half-links, so no issue fitting a wrist of around 8in if desired.

Absolutely one of our favourite modern GS references, and rarely seen compared to it's Shunbun and Taisetsu siblings.
