IWC Portofino Chronograph 39 Edition Laureus IW391408
Introduced in 2021, the updated Portofino Chronograph from IWC now features a 39mm case, with a reduction in height to 12.7mm, and is all the better for it. Sometimes when these case reductions happen we see some slightly odd proportions, but not a bit of it here. The balance of the dial is absolutely perfect, with each chrono counter balancing the other, and while the text for 'Chronograph' may be a bit superfluous, it does a great job of balancing the IWC logo at 3.
The above goes for all Portofino Chrono 39's, but what makes this one that little bit more special is the Laureus blue dial. Laureus Sport for Good, to give it it's full name, is a foundation created to help empower and enrich the lives of children who are less fortunate through sport, and has now been going for 25 years. Not only does this dial represent a foundation doing some good in this world, but it just happens to be absolutely gorgeous, and is complimented by polished applied markers and hands.
Powering it is the calibre 79350, based on the Valjoux 7750, so reliable and accurate. It sits beneath a solid caseback with an engraving of a drawing by the winner of an IWC drawing competition organised by IWC for Laureus, which is a lovely touch.
Finishing it off is a beautiful IWC leather strap with IWC deployant buckle.
This particular piece was first sold in July 2025 and remains unworn and in TZ 'LNIB' condition. Please see images for full condition details.
