Maurice Lacroix Masterpiece Double Retrograde MP7018

Introduced in the early 1990s, the Masterpiece line is the top of the tree for Maurice Lacroix’s, offering highly complicated watches at very accessible prices such as this Double Retrograde MP7018.

It's quite amazing that Maurice Lacroix have managed to fit so much onto the dial, but somehow kept in feeling clutter-free, and highly legible. Part of that is due to the use of the 43mm case, executed in steel, which allows enough breathing room for all of the complication displays to exist in harmony.

So what do we have? Well, it's a Double Retrograde as you can see, with the one at 6 representing the date, but the really interesting display is the dual time function at 12. This is adjusted by the pusher at 2, and allows you to set a second time. The use of a retrograde display for this, along with the pusher, makes it one of the most legible and easy to use dual time functions we've yet to experience. Same goes for the date, which is adjusted using the pusher at 8. We then have running seconds at 9, and a power reserve at 3, handy when you have a manual wind watch, and very well integrated. The dial features multiple guillochet finishes, and is lovely to behold, and the blued hands look magnificent above the opaline finish.

Flip it over and you're greeted with a manually wound ML 100 movement, based around the Unitas 6497-1, which features blued steel screws, Incabloc shock protection, polished steel pallet and escapement wheel, Triovis precision adjustment, Glucydur coiled balance wheel, Nivarox-1 balance spring, Nivaflex-1 main spring and an array of hand finishing.

This particular one owner watch was purchased locally in 2006, and presents in TZ 'Near Mint' condition with only light hairlines/minor scratches and swirls present as it was sparingly worn by it's owner. Please see images for full condition details.

The 'gator strap is in fantastic condition, as is the deployant clasp.

Has never been serviced. All functions operating as they should, and keeping time at +10 seconds a day at over 300 degrees of amplitude dial-up on a timegrapher, so running beautifully.
