Nivada Grenchen Orange Boy 86012WM

Established in 1926, Nivada Grenchen became well-known for making tough tool watches, and were the watch of choice for the US Navy's Deep Freeze 1 expedition to the South Pole in 1955/56 such was their robustness. In 1963, they used the experience gained with these Antartic timepieces to create the Chronomaster line of watches. Unfortunately Nivada went out of business in the 20th century, but has been reborn in 2018 with the Chronomaster forming a key line in its range.

Utilising a 38mm case in stainless steel, it houses a matte black dial with tropical style sub-registers, and orange accents for the hands and 30 minute counter, hence the 'Orange Boy' moniker. It's surrounded by a bi-directional dive bezel, and topped with a domed sapphire crystal. It's mounted to a brown leather strap with steel tang buckle. Powering it is a Sellita SW510 manual wind movement. With 100m of water resistance, it's a beautiful throw-back Chrono with modern reliability that would make for a great daily wearer.

This particular piece was delivered in August 2021 and presents in TZ Good condition. The case shows some light scratching on the polished areas, and on the case back. There are a few dings on the bevel of the upper right lug and lower left lug, hence the grading being 'Good' rather than 'Excellent' on our grading scale. Rear of the lugs show some marks from strap changes, and there's a small pin dent on the bezel near 12. Please see images for full condition details.
