Nivada Grenchen x Time+Tide x seconde/seconde/ ChaosMaster Sigh of Relief

If you like your watches a little less on the serious-side, and you've not heard of Seconde/Seconde, then you're absolutely missing out on one of the coolest artists and creators in modern watchmaking. Romaric and his brand Seconde/Seconde have gained quite a lot of notoriety in the past couple of years for their fun and sometimes daring takes on vintage watches, and have also recently moved into collaborations with watch brands such as Massena LAB, Moser, Louis Erard and now Nivada Grenchen. These super-fun seconds hands may not be for everyone, but we absolutely adore them. So much so, that we own two Seconde Seconde modified pieces ourselves, and have no doubt there'll be a few more in the future as well!

The watch we have here is a collaboration with Nivada and Time + Tide, and it's mega. It's based around the the Chronomaster (hence ChaosMaster), a classic mid-century inspired Chronograph. But this version has been flipped on its head...quite literally. Given Time + Tide is Australian, and we're from the Land Downunder on the other side of the world, the text on the dial has been flipped 180 degrees so it’s upside down (don't worry, you still read the time and subdials the way you normally would). The other twist to the design is the replacement of the sub-seconds hand with a rotating disc in classic seconde/seconde fashion, and it was available in three versions with one being the “Cool” with sunglasses, “Swirly” with it's swirling eyes, or “Sigh of relief” with the drip of sweat on the brow. 

Initially these were released in a run of 33 pieces for each dial, all sitting on a standard black dial. Then a special run of five sets of the three watches was released as a trio, and now featured a white dial for the Swirly, a tropical brown dial for the cool, and black for the Sigh of Relief. This is a part of that set.

This amazing dial is mounted within a 38.5mm x 13.75mm steel case with 100 metres of water resistance, and is powered by the Sellita SW 510 manual wind movement. It's mounted to the brilliant Tropical rubber strap with quick release springbars and steel tang buckle.

This particular piece was purchased in 2023 as part of the trio set, and presents in TZ 'Near Mint' condition, with some very light hairlines present on the lugs and case back. Please see images for full condition details.

Strap is in fantastic condition, and buckle shows minor desk dive marks.

Currently keeping COSC time at at 300+ degrees of amplitude measured dial-up on a timegrapher, and all functions operating as they should.
