Omega Seamaster 1948 Small Seconds 38mm 511.12.38.20.02.001
Released in 2018 to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Seamaster, the 1948 Limited Edition was released in a series of 1,948 pieces and is one of Omega's coolest releases in the past decade in our humble opinion.
Featuring a 38mm stainless steel case, it wears a little larger than that with it's broad bezel and lugs, and is beautifully proportioned with a lug-to-lug of 45.8mm and a 12mm thickness. Within this case lies a slightly domed silver opaline dial with a railroad minute track at its outer edge, inboard of which sits applied 18k dagger markers with Arabic 13-3-9 registers, and sub-seconds at 6. It's topped with gorgeous 18k leaf hands, and evokes the classic style of the 40's Seamasters while modernising it just enough. It's a very sympathetic tribute, and masterfully executed.
One part of the watch that is purely modern is the METAS certified Chronometer Calibre 8804 automatic movement, seen through a laser-engraved sapphire crystal. It truly is the best of both worlds.
This particular example presents in TZ 'Near Mint' condition. The case is very clean, with swirlies and minor hairlines present on the polished surfaces, and some minor marks on the brushed case sides. Please see photos for full condition details.
The OEM strap is in fantastic condition, with only minor wear.
All functions operating as they should, and keeping COSC time. No known service history.
