Omega Speedmaster First Omega in Space 'FOIS' 310.30.40.50.06.001

The original Moonwatch "First Omega in Space" was inspired by the watch worn by astronaut Wally Shirra in 1962 as he orbited the earth during the "Sigma 7" mission, and it's always been one of our favourite modern iterations of the Speedy with it's 39.7mm case, straight lugs, and vintage touches like the stepped dial and Alpha hands.

In 2024 Omega brought the FOIS back with this reference, and they really hit it out of the park. It utilises the same case as before, with it's Dot-over-Ninety (DoN) bezel intact. The step dial is also still there, though now executed in a marvelous blue-grey soleil with vintage-inspired deep ecru markers, harking back to the rarely seen early references with a similar dial finish. The Alpha hands are also present and correct, with vintage-inspired lume, and it's all covered by a sapphire crystal made to evoke the high-hat hesalite of the early references.

Finishing it off is a flat-link bracelet, which you also see on the modern Ed White, and it's powered by fantastic 3861 manual wind chronograph movement, which is covered by a caseback embossed with the original 1962 Seahorse logo.

Purchased locally in Q4 2025, this particular example presents in TZ 'Near Mint' condition, with only the very lightest hints of any use in the form of some swirlies on the polished surfaces. No scratches, nicks/dings/dents etc. Please see images for full condition details.

The bracelet is also near mint, with only very light desk dive marks present. The clasp still has a sticker on it. Includes spare links to complete it, though missing one bar. It'll still fit an 8in wrist without using all the links, so more than adequate for most people.

All functions operating as they should, keeping COSC time measured dial-up on a timegrapher, and remains under Omega warranty until 2030.
