Omega Speedmaster Professional Two-Tone Manual DD145.022
Omega Speedmaster Professional Two-Tone Manual DD145.022
Two tone watches are generally not our jam, but every now and then a watch comes through that challenges our notions on what cool is, and this is one of them. Known as the DD145.022, this rare reference of Speedmaster is one of the coolest Speedys we've ever had across our desk, and up until 2 years ago we didn't even know it existed.
Released in the 80's, this is an extremely uncommon reference and there's actually not that much info out there on them, even from Omega. Believed to have been made for the German and Italian markets in 1983, they were a variation on the 145.022 as the reference number suggests, so the regular Speedy Pro of the era. This means a 42mm case in steel, but this time topped with a 14k yellow gold bezel with gilt insert. Within this case lies a gold-toned dial with silver subdials, black markers and topped with black tritium hands.
The dial itself is in lovely condition, with minor wear present around the outer edge of the step dial under a loupe. All tritium plots are in place, and light up and drop off at the same rate under UV. Hands are tritium, and again light up and drop off at the same rate. There's some tritium flecks present under the hesalite under UV light. Hesalite shows scratching.
The case is thick, with excellent finishes and shows wear consistent with its age. There's a decent ding on the left side bottom line of the mid-case, but otherwise just small pin dents, nicks and scratching.
It's mounted to an Omega 1171 bracelet with folded 14k gold links, and the correct gold endlinks (some are seen with silver endlinks due to the rarity of these correct endlinks). Shows some stretch for its age, but nothing too drastic.
Service history is unknown, but hasn't been done for a while. Winds smoothly, chrono operates as it should and resets to 0, and is keeping time at around -12 secs per day and 284 degrees of amplitude.
No box or papers. Comes with Watch Vault cleaning cloth and Watch Vault travel case.
A lovely example of an exceedingly rare reference.
