Wakmann Triple-Calendar Vintage Chronograph 71.1311.21

Famous for being the Breitling importer into the US in the mid 20th century, Wakmann also released some fantastic Chronographs under their own banner such as this Triple-Calendar from the 60's.

Housed within a 39mm steel case, the silver sunburst dial has 3 sub-dials with running seconds, 30 minute register and 12 hour register in white. Power comes from the manual wind Valjoux 72c, which allows for the triple calendar functions of day, month and pointer date in addition to the chrono. With contemporary sizing, excellent functionality and beautiful looks, it is everything you could want in a vintage chrono from a time that manually-wound chronos ruled the horological world.

This particular piece dates from the 60's and presents in excellent vintage condition. Dial shows only light spotting and marks, with crisp printing and excellent finishes.

Handset is in excellent condition and retains its tritium.

The 39mm steel case is extremely well preserved, and shows sharp lines and even lugs. The screw-down case back is also in excellent condition, with clear stamping on back. Acrylic crystal is in fantastic condition with only light marks. Signed crown.

Was apparently serviced by previous dealer in 2019. All functions are operating as they should, though the 30 minute counter is not quite at 0 when reset. Currently running at around +22 secs per day at 280 degrees of amplitude dial-up on a timegrapher.

Comes mounted to an aftermarket leather strap with tang buckle, and includes a Watch Vault cleaning cloth and Travel Pod.

Spectacular example of one of the most famous pieces from a historically significant watchmaker.
