Zenith Chronomaster Heritage 146 Blue Dial 03.2150.4069/51.C805
Anyone with an interest in Zenith, and in particular their chronographs, has likely heard of the story of Charles Vermot, the rogue employee of Zenith who disregarded instruction from his bosses to destroy tooling for the El Primero Chronograph and instead hid them in an attic in the manufacture. This tooling and design plans ultimately saved Zenith, and allowed for the El Primero to be put back in production, something all of us watch fans should be eternally grateful for as they've gone on to power some of the most significant watches ever made.
The Chronomaster Heritage 03.2150.4069/51.C805 is a bit of a hidden gem, known amongst collectors, but not so much the general public. Good for us, as it's one of our favourite El Primero powered Zenith's of the modern era.
Utilising a beautifully stepped stainless steel case in 38mm, that's just 12.5mm thick and with a short 46.4mm lug-to-lug allowing it to fit on almost any wrist. It houses a stunning blue dial with a tachymetre scale across it's outer edge, within which sits white minute track and applied indices for the hours. What is so cool about this reference, is it's simplicity. You'd expect a chronograph to be quite busy, but the only sub-register is a minutes counter at 3, balancing out the running seconds at 9. You'll also note the lack of date, which we love. It's very elegant in its execution, and suits its dress-sports character to a tee.
Powering it is the El Primero 4069 automatic chronograph movement, and it's mounted to a lovely blue Zenith leather strap with steel Zenith pin buckle. It even has 100m of water resistance, so the perfect daily dess-sports piece.
This particular piece would likely date from the late 2010's and presents in TZ 'Near Mint' condition. The case is in amazing condition, with some very small scratches/scuffs present on the case sides, and some marks on the rear of the lugs from strap changes. Please see images for full condition details.
Service history is unknown. It's currently keeping time at around +19 seconds a day at mid-200's amplitude dial-up on a timegrapher. All functions operating as they should.
